for Porcelain Perfected. This revolutionary technology stands as a case study of our
commitment to transcendent quality and design, the marriage of form and function.
HydroZero™ inside started with an observation: When porcelain is 昀椀red at lower
temperatures, some water content remains within the clay, and not all chemical
reactions that change the colour are fully completed. It’s this residual moisture that
gives the softer, warmer feel. That’s good for colour but bad for strength.
But when porcelain is 昀椀red at higher temperatures, above 1,200°C, almost all the
water content is removed, and additional chemical reactions occur. The kaolinite in the
clay undergoes a transformation into a new mineral known as mullite. This causes the
porcelain to become more translucent and it takes on a bright, harsh white colour.
That’s good for strength but bad for colour.
